Thanks for visiting Rethinker.net, a no-frills site where one fellow who has the 'rethink retardation' occasionally tries to articulate some of the dozens of questions he has been forced by said retardation to reconsider. Most of the few rethink blogs started here are in rough-draft form for now. I'm just throwing it out there bit by unrefined bit as rare leisure and inspiration afford.
Sophia (<<<Click here!)
This Sophia corner of this site is where I intend to attempt to philosophize on matters of philosophy of religion, comparative religion, epistemology, metaphysics, quantum theory and cosmology, God and gods, faith and reason, neo-thomism versus neo-kantianism, nihilism and existentialism and the meaning of life, and all those other similar type of -ism's I've spent years wrestling with. I've got a few rethinks started for this corner but they're not fit for public release yet. (I keep having to rethink them and end up start over on them!)
In Biblia I intend to reconsider some of the questions about the sixty-six books that comprise "the Bible." In time I'm going to try to rethink my way through questions about the historical reliability of the manuscripts, the question of "inspiration" (did God indirectly write those books?), the question of inerrancy (is it without factual error in terms of history and science?), the questions of authority (who speaks for God when we cannot hear God's voice?), hermeneutic and interpretation (can't anyone make any big book say anything they want it to say?). There's not much here in this corner yet either.
In the Yeshua corner I'm going to attempt to reconsider the historical-and-biblical Jesus, the contextualized Jesii, and the mythical Jesii. There's not much to read here yet either. But at least there's a unique photo gallery to look at.
In Soteria I'm attempting to rethink my way through questions about "salvation." It has been suggested that the Judeo-Christian is afraid that the individual soul is not immortal, but wants it to be, while the Hindu-Buddhist is afraid that the individual soul is immortal and wants it not to be. I'm mainly trying to explore salvation in terms of the Judeo-Christian sense on this corner of the site.
Most of the stuff I've got so far is here in the Ekklesia corner. This topic seems to occupy my mind a lot these days. This is where i attempt to figure out what went wrong with "the church" each century and try to figure out how to recover something more reminiscent of the beauty of the original precedent--yes, the one from 2,000 years ago.
This is where I'm going to be rethinking some of the hopefully more important questions and controversies in Judeo-Christian theology. Its stuff that didn't seem to fit well in the more granular corners of soteria or ekklesia.
Here I attempt to reconsider questions regarding family life, marriage, raising children and such.
In the Health corner I'm trying to explore some health matters. There are only two rethinks in there right now. I've got several more in my head but not sure when they'll get spilled out into a keyboard.
The Reviews corner contains my reviews of books, movies, and music albums.
